Wear Orange & Help End Teen Dating Abuse!
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and at SAGE we strive to end dating violence in our communities and beyond.
Did you know that one in three teens in the United States is "a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner"?
That number exceeds other types of youth violence and proves that education on teen dating violence is crucial.
According to loveisrespect.org, "violent behavior typically begins between the ages of 12-18"& "girls and young women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence - almost triple the national average".
However, like other types of abuse, teen dating violence knows no boundaries and can affect anyone regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, education, etc.
The staff at SAGE is committed to ending dating violence before it starts and is actively educating students, faculty and staff in the community on this issue. For more information or if you are interested in having a SAGE staff member present at your school or elsewhere, please contact Megan at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 509-663.7446.
