FUNDING

Funding of the services provided by The Crisis Center comes from a variety of sources including: state and federal grants, inter-local agreements, private foundations, United Way, and strong support from both individuals and businesses in the community who donate goods, services, labor and funds. Community support has been steadily increasing over the last several years. 

The Annual Christmas Drive for families who have recently left abusive situations has been strongly supported by the community.  Individuals and business have provided complete Christmas dinners, candy for stockings and snack foods, gifts for all the family members.  In addition, Crisis Line Advocates and volunteers have provided over 10,000 hours in the past year in crisis line calls, and providing victim advocacy services.

ABOUT OUR AGENCY The Domestic and Sexual Violence Crisis Center is a private, non-profit agency, serving victims of domestic and sexual violence in Chelan and Douglas counties.  The Crisis Center was established in 1978 and is accredited to serve victims of sexual assault.

  In 1984, services were expanded to include victims of domestic violence.  The Crisis Center provides a wide array of services to Domestic and Sexual Violence victims.  All services are provided to victims in their primary language. 

Services include: food, emergency shelter, toiletries, clothing, information and referral services, individual counseling, domestic and sexual violence support groups, 24 hour crisis line, crisis transportation services, legal advocacy, medical advocacy, personal advocacy and landlord mediation services, community outreach & education, Sexual abuse/assault counseling & therapy, and professional training & in-service. 

All of our services are provided free of charge to the victim and the victim’s family.

Domestic and sexual violence incidents are increasing and a higher percentage of victims are reporting the violence and seeking services for themselves and their family.

We provided over 14,500 hours of service to victims, including over 2,998 bed nights to clients at our shelter.    In 2003, The Crisis Center realized a significant expansion into our rural communities by establishing outreach centers in Chelan, Bridgeport, Waterville and Leavenworth.  AGENCY STATISTICS

Accomplishments and Goals

  1. Maintain enhanced services and community outreach to: Chelan, Leavenworth, Bridgeport, and Waterville.
  2. Facilitate sexual assault, domestic violence, and victim healing support groups.

  4. Added services of 3 part time sexual assault therapists.
  5. Direct Therapist services were also made available in Chelan as an offsite alternative
  6. An Executive Director was hired in summer of 2003
  7. Five additional members were recruited for the agency advisory board.
  8. Two full time bilingual hispanic services advocates were hired by the agency with a 3rd to be added next year.
  9. Three, forty-two hour trainings on sexual assault and domestic violence were offered to the community.
